MRL Mk.7 is a standard level 7 MRL unit unlocked in Information Age. Its predecessor is MRL Mk.6.
General Information[]
It is a vehicle mounted rocket launcher. They're excellent against buildings and infantry but are weak against defensive cavalry. Their splash damage makes them excellent for taking out a group of enemy infrantry defenders.
Historical Description[]
Lacking domestic expertise in tank production, the Argentine military hired the West German company Thyssen-Henschel in 1974 to create a design for them. The result was the Tanque Argentino Mediano or TAM. Based on the German Marder 1 infantry fighting vehicle, it was classified as a medium tank or light main battle tank and prioritized mobility over firepower or armor. The Argentines founded a firm called TAMSE to manufacture the TAM and the many variants that would be built on its chassis, including the VCLC multiple launch rocket system.
The VCLC was a joint venture between TAMSE and Israel Military Industries, the maker of the LAR-160 modular rocket system. Ammo for the system was factory fitted and sealed into box containers. After their payload was launched, the containers had to be removed and replaced in a 10-minute process involving a crane mounted on another vehicle. Due to budget constraints, production appears to have been limited, perhaps to no more than one or two prototypes. Unsurprisingly, the model did not see active combat and has never been exported.
