Historical Description
The F-111 Aardvark was the world’s first aircract designed with variable-geometry wings. This new “swing wing“ technology meant that the aircraft could change its shape mid-flight. The Aardvark could shift its wings for better maneuverability in combat, then change them again to gain maximum speed on retreat. This, coupled with several other world-first features for fighters, made the Aardvark a formidable foe on the battlefield.
