“These heavily-armored units will attack defensive buildings, distracting them at close range while your other troops do the damage.”

Renault FT(-17) Tank is a level 6 standard Heavy Cavalry unit unlocked in Industrial Age. Its predecessor is Cuirassier and can be upgraded to Medium Tank. It is researched in level 8 Armory.

General Information

The standard Heavy Infantry's default A.I. or purpose is to destroy the closest building (excluding walls), but they may fight back when attacked by an enemy troop. They're excellent at taking down defensive Heavy Cavalry (noticeably on cavalry at an age lower than them) and are able to destroy buildings quickly. However, their disadvantages are that they have low health, meaning that they can be killed very quickly. They can get destroyed easily by Splash Damage Structures such as Catapults or Mortars and Multiple Target Damage Structures such as Redoubt or Machine Gun. They are also weak against other Heavy Infantry (and even Ranged Infanty} spawned by the City Center, Garrisons, Ambush Traps etc.

Historical Description

First deployed during the last year of World War I, the French Renault FT was lighter and faster than previous tank designs. With its fully rotating turret, crew in the front and engine in the back, the FT is often considered the first truly modern tank, and many saw service during World War II.

Attacking Strategies

  • The Tank has a lot of health but is slow and has low attack power, so use it in groups
  • The Tank is weak against many defenses grouped together
  • When pushing for trophies, you would need to destroy the Town Center or City Center. In many bases, the town center would be in the center of the base. First, train up an army of Tank and a Wall Breacher. When attacking, deploy your Wall Breacher and wait till it destroys the necessary walls. Then, deploy all your Tank units in the areas which the City Center is more close to. If there are a few defenses blocking the way, destroy them. Then rally your units to destroy the Town Center or City Center
  • The Tank would ignore defensive troops and would pursue their targets which are defensive buildings. However, if a defensive troop attacks it, the Tank will attack back until the defensive troop is killed; thus making it distracted. Try to use and deploy Ranged Infantry or Heavy Infantry after deploying the units to eliminate the defensive troops

Defensive Strategies

  • The Tank is a good alliance troop due to its high health; making it longer to kill them
  • Tank units are spawned by Stable or Tank Depot. With their high health, they are good to slow down the enemies advance
  • The Reinforcements technology in the Library spawns Main the units in the forest and they attack troops of the attacker

Trivia

  • The Renault FT Tank is the first level of Heavy Cavalry that is used by North European, Mediterranean, and Oriental nations.
